Wine Country Farm Stay

Experience Tranquility and Nature at Sunshower Hill Farm

Surrounded by hills, wooded areas and an endless blue sky, this farm was the perfect place to breathe, clear my mind, and escape the chaos of daily life. The sense of peace is incredibly refreshing for both my mind and body. Sunshower Hill Farm is a place to relax, reconnect with nature, savor the freshest produce, and build a connection with the amazing people who own this magical farm.

The House

We are the third owners of this 1920 historic Craftsman home and purchased it from one of the families who homesteaded the mountains around Newberg.  Enjoy beautiful year-round sunsets and views of the Willamette Valley and Coast Range.  In the early morning hours, you might catch hot air balloons rising on the horizon.

Experience farmhouse decor and comfort while staying minutes away from charming downtown Newberg and McMinnville and just 20 miles from Portland. Our county is home to over 200 vineyards, with plenty of dining and outdoor adventure. Walk to 2 adjacent wineries right from our site or pop into Newberg less than 3 miles away, for access to shopping and dining options.

Farm-to-Table Experience

Your farm fresh breakfast will be crafted in our farmhouse kitchen. Some examples of dishes include house-made granola, frittata with seasonal vegetables, coffee cake with local fruit or berries, boiled local eggs, fresh seasonal fruit or berries, locally-roasted coffee or our signature house-grown herbal tea. Upon booking, please make note of any dietary restrictions so we can plan accordingly.  Enjoy self-serve coffee or tea and feel free to help yourself from snacks and beverages from our guest fridge at any time.

The home is very charming, comfortable & relaxing—it’s quite the country get-a-way — yet close to Portland. Sipping wine on the deck with an amazing view of the valley was wonderful. Eating farm fresh eggs for breakfast with homemade tea was quite the way to start the day! And having a vineyard right next door made wine tasting convenient.

The Farm

Escape for some peace and quiet in a pastoral country setting surrounded by vineyards and beautiful views of the Coast Range right in Yamhill County's renowned wine region. Take in the fresh air and unwind while strolling in our beautiful flower, herb and vegetable gardens.

We are a working farm and our practices include no-till and no spray (ever).  We strive to mimic nature's natural systems and thus there is not perfect order in our system.  Since our property is a working farm, you will experience the natural wonders of nature (frogs croaking, crickets chirping, occasional coyotes howling, insect pollinators at work). Feel free to follow the map to your self-guided farm tour and walk on our forest perimeter trails, while also catching sight of an array of pollinators, raptors, birds and wildlife.

Ranee is so wonderful, and accommodating, she gave great tips for the surrounding area, as well as produce from their beautiful farm! The house is very charming, and in such a great location to so many fun things.

The Rooms

Visit us for a stay seasonally from April through September. In our unique space, you will experience rustic, farm life country living with all of the comforts of a modern space.

Choose between two private guest suites, each including a comfortable sitting area, all natural fiber bedding and down pillows, along with farmhouse decor.  The walk-in tile bathroom is located a short distance away and is exclusively for guest use.  Definitely plan on a self-serve breakfast, made with ingredients grown right here on the farm and supplemented with local, organic goodness.  Inside the farmhouse, cozy up by the fireplace or select a book to read from our living room library.  Roam the grounds of the farm for a self-guided tour on our nature trail and through the many gardens, soak in our hot tub or enjoy one of the many outside guest areas on our patio, deck, porch, in the yard or explore the crop areas.

The Southern (full size bed) $245/night

Coast Range (queen size bed) $210/night

During your stay, we may be onsite working on the farm, away visiting or coming and going from the property. We are glad to greet you, give you a tour, answer any questions and make any recommendations for area “must sees and must dos.” Ready to explore on your own? We’ll be a quick phone call away, but you will have our comfortable and welcoming home all to yourself. If you enjoy cooking, you can do so in our fully outfitted kitchen on our barbeque patio, which boasts a valley view.
